Emergencies
If you need urgent medical care outside of normal surgery hours (between
6.30pm and 8.00am Monday to Friday) or weekends and bank holidays, please
call 0845 345 8995. You can also get general health advice 24 hours a day by
calling
NHS direct on 0845 46 47.

Telephone Consultations
To talk to a doctor or nurse about a non-urgent problem, it is usually best to telephone between 11.30am and 12.30pm. If a doctor or nurse is available they will speak to you straightaway, otherwise we will arrange for a doctor or nurse to phone you back as soon as they are free.

Disabled Access
There is access through the main door.

Results of Tests
Please phone between 10.00am and 3.30pm for results. Most tests require at least 3 working days. X-ray results usually require 10 days.

Dispensing
We dispense medicines for all our patients unless they live within one mile of a chemist. The dispensary is closed between 1pm - 2pm. Repeat prescriptions may still be collected but no new items will be dispensed during this time. Prescriptions issued during surgery appointments are dispensed immediately although patients may have to wait a short while for this to be done. Occasionally some medicines may have to be ordered.

Clinics
All doctors see patients for family planning appointments.

Minor Surgery
Minor surgery is available at times arranged with individual doctors and patients.

Family Planning
Appointments can be made to see any doctor for family planning advice during normal surgery times. We provide a wide range of family planning including "the pill", coils and diaphragms.

Preventive Health Checks
These are available for all adults by appointment with our practice nurses. We also run special clinics for those with asthma, diabetes, ischaemic heart disease, well woman checks and teenage advice clinics.

Care During Pregnancy
The GPs work with the midwives to look after women before and after the birth. Women wishing to have a home birth are welcome to discuss this with the midwives but should bear in mind that the GPs are not specialists in providing the type of care needed during delivery.

Do you need advice on:
blood pressure, smoking, diet, exercise, cervical smears, immunisations, drugs, alcohol or any other health matter? If so please feel free to ask the practice nurse, health visitor or doctor.

Video
The doctors occasionally video consultations in order to help them improve their consultation skills. This will never be done without the patient's prior consent. Any tapes made are kept securely and destroyed after three years.

Patients' Comments
The practice has an in-house complaints procedure. Patients are welcome to make comments, suggestions and complaints either verbally or in writing to the Practice Manager, Mrs Beverley Turner. Mrs Turner is responsible for following up all comments received by this route. There is also a suggestion box in the waiting room for those who prefer to keep their comments anonymous! In addition the doctors are always prepared to speak with the patients during surgery hours about matters that may be troubling them.
